Candidate Forum

Below are clips of my answers to the candidate questions from the October 13th Candidate Forum organized by the Winters Express. Each clip starts with my answer to the associated question.

Question 1: Winters’ current general plan is 30 years old, but is still our guiding document. Do you believe the existing General Plan is still strong, or should the City pursue revision? Why or why not?

Question 2: What is your vision for downtown, and how does sustainability factor into it?

Question 3: The City owns and maintains the Community Center and Rotary Park in the heart of downtown. What’s your vision for the aging Community Center, and what steps would we need to take to get there

Question 4: In order to meet its greenhouse gas reduction goals, the City will need to reduce vehicle miles traveled. What are your ideas for accomplishing this?

Question 5: In light of recent discussions about affordable housing, senior housing, application of the inclusionary housing ordinance, and zoning, what are your ideas for how to maintain Winters’ character and increase affordable housing opportunities?

Question 6: There is often a diversity of opinions on City Council. How do you interact with people with whom you don’t agree, and how do you anticipate that playing out on Council?
